Thank you for visiting Math Teachers in Action. This site was developed and is maintained by the Math Content Specialists for Illinois. Our goal is to provide resources and professional learning opportunities to help teachers fully implement the Illinois Learning Standards for Mathematics. We are available to assist all teachers in the state, so feel free to reach out if you have a question or need of a particular tool or resource.

Weekly we will share a blog post. These posts will share ready-to-go lessons or activities, explore helpful resources, and discuss research in mathematics education. Readers will be able to ask questions, make comments, and share ideas. We hope these blogs will facilitate reflection and lead to the implementation of effective teaching strategies.

Guests are welcome to blog. Just head over to the Contact Us page and let us know what you are interested in sharing.

Will a notification be sent that there is a new posting?

Great question! If that is not a current feature of the blog posts, it will be. At the very least, we will notify through the listserv and social media.

I had to "join" to post or read the forums, so I sent a request. Didn't know if that was intentional, but wanted to let you know.

Thank you for posting! Yes, we have that feature turned on at this point in order to build our network of math educators on this site. Now that you have "joined" you should get notifications of new blog posts and comments left by other members of the network. Thank you for being a part of this network in its early stages so that we can test everything out! You never know how these apps are going to behave until they are live.

I changed the settings on the group so that the discussions can be seen by everyone, but you do still have to join the group to post or make comments. I didn't realize it was hiding everything! Thanks for making me take a second look at this!
